Cuttack, Oct 23: The Odisha Vigilance has arrested Tapan Sethi, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the R&B Sub-Division in Badachana, Jajpur district, on charges of possessing disproportionate assets.

Sethi, who operated under the Superintending Engineer (SE) of the R&B Division in Charbatia, Choudwar, Cuttack, was arrested and is being produced before the Hon’ble Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

The arrest follows extensive searches conducted on Sethi's properties, which revealed a massive accumulation of unexplained wealth, including three multi-storeyed buildings located in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Puri, three high-value plots, and a 1.02-acre farmhouse. The uncovered assets also comprise 747 grams of gold, bank deposits totaling Rs. 20.87 lakhs, and two four-wheelers.

Following the raids, a formal case has been registered against Sethi at the Vigilance Cell Police Station (Case No. 8/2026) under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the case is currently ongoing.
