Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: Odisha Vigilance has arrested two government officials in separate disproportionate assets (DA) cases following raids on their properties, officials said on Friday.
In Koraput district, Sri Niranjan Satapathy, Forester of Semiluguda Forest Range under Koraput Forest Division, was arrested for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. He is scheduled to be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. Vigilance officials said searches revealed two multi-storeyed buildings in Bhubaneswar and one in Koraput, seven high-value plots, about one kilogram of gold, bank deposits worth Rs 66.42 lakh, cash amounting to Rs 9.28 lakh, and a four-wheeler, among other assets, which he reportedly failed to explain satisfactorily. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station Case No. 31/2025 has been registered against him.
In a separate case, Sri Nihar Ranjan Sarkar, Junior Engineer at Malkangiri Block in Malkangiri district, was also arrested on charges of possessing disproportionate assets. He will be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore. According to Vigilance sources, searches at properties linked to Sarkar led to the detection of a triple-storeyed building, eight valuable plots, cash of Rs 2.11 lakh, and a four-wheeler, among other assets, which he could not satisfactorily account for. Koraput Vigilance Police Station Case No. 40/2025 has been registered in this regard.
Further investigation is underway in both cases.
