Puri, May 22: In a tragic mishap, at least two youths were killed after being hit by a speeding hyva truck in Baranga area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Thursday.
Though the identities of the deceased youths are yet to be asceratained, preliminary investigation revealed that both victims are from the local Bhapur area.
As per reports, the mishap took place on the Puri Main Canal embankment road under Baranga police limits in the district when the duo was on their way from Mundali towards Godisahi on a bike. A speeding hyva truck coming from the opposite direction hit the bike and fled from the scene.
As a result, the duo sustained grave injuries.
Upon receiving the information, Godisahi police rushed to the spot and rushed the victims to the SCB Medical College and Hospital where the attending doctors declared both of them dead upon arrival. Later, the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
A probe has been launched into the matter and efforts are on to trace and nab the truck driver, said the police.
