Odisha: Two including minor boy killed in head-on collision between two bikes in Mayurbhanj

Rairangpur, Aug 11: In a tragic mishap, at least two people including a minor boy were killed and two others sustained grievous injuries after two bikes collided head-on in Rairangpur of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district late last night.

The deceased have been identified as Shailendra Soren (35) of Deopata village under Bisoi police limits and Krushna Chandra Marni (17), son of Nimain Marni of Dasisul village under Bangiriposi police limits.

As per reports, the duo was returning home after participating in a ‘Raksha Bandhan’ event when their bike collided head-on with another bike near Lohabalia leading to the death of two people and critically injuring two others, identified as Khela Marni and Shiva Shankar Tudu. 

They were immediately rushed to Baripada, and later transferred to Medical College for urgent treatment.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and launched a probe into the matter. The cops also seized the bodies of the deceased persons and sent them for post-mortem.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, said the police.
