Odisha to open helpdesks in all districts for voter list revision

Bhubaneswar, May 22: The Election Department has directed all district election offices in Odisha to open dedicated helpdesks for voter list revision under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme. The initiative aims to assist migrant, elderly and differently-abled voters in accessing electoral services with ease.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sushant Kumar Mishra has written to all District Collectors and District Election Officers (DEOs), asking them to set up the helpdesks and ensure their smooth functioning.

The helpdesks will provide information related to the SIR schedule, voter eligibility, inclusion, correction and deletion of names in the electoral roll. Voters will also receive assistance in linking old voter records and filling up online and offline forms.

To improve accessibility, trained personnel will be deployed at the helpdesks, while awareness materials in local languages will also be made available. District authorities have further been instructed to spread awareness about the Election Commission’s 1950 helpline and the ECINet app.

All districts have been asked to submit reports on the establishment and operational status of the helpdesks by May 25. The SIR campaign in Odisha is scheduled to begin from May 30 with the objective of ensuring accuracy in the voter list.
