Dhenkanal, June 1: Tension prevailed at the Rungta Steel Plant in Jharabandh area of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district after a worker died due to electrocution while working at the plant.
The deceased worker has been identified as Munna Gochhayat, a resident of Kadala village under the Balimi police station limits.
According to reports, the plant authorities have issued a statement saying that Gochhayat died due to electrocution while working.
However, the family members and villagers of the deceased worker have alleged that the plant authorities were trying to cover up the matter and have demanded action against them.
The villagers and family members of the deceased worker have blocked the main gate of the plant and are staging a protest.
Upon getting the information, the Balimi police and Motanga police arrived at the spot and tried to pacify the agitators.
The protesters are demanding compensation for the family of the deceased worker and action against the plant authorities for their alleged negligence. The situation remains tense at the plant, with the protesters refusing to budge until their demands are met.
