Jagatsinghpur, Aug 24: Police in Odisha’s Paradip busted a major sex racket operating from a spa and rescued nine women along with the arrest of four customers.
The identities of the arrested people have not been disclosed by the police.
Acting on a tip-off regarding illegal activities being carried out under the guise of a wellness centre, the cops conducted a raid at the spa located in the Tarinigada area and busted the sex racket.
Police stated that all the women rescued in the raid are from West Bengal. During the operation, authorities seized several illicit items, along with mobile phones belonging to both the women and their customers. A register, believed to contain transaction details, was also recovered.
The spa was reportedly operated by one Sheikh Badru, who has absconded following the raid. Police are also investigating the property owner, Bhagirathi, for allegedly renting out the premises for the illegal activities.
Bhagirathi has been served a notice and will soon be questioned in connection with the case.
A manhunt has been launched to track down the main suspect and further investigation is underway, said the police.
