Odisha: Seven arrested with three leopard skins in Similipal Tiger Reserve

Baripada, July 18: Forest officials in South division of Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj seized three leopard skins and arrested seven persons in this connection, informed DIG Eastern Range Dr. Satyajit Naik.
The identities of the arrested individuals have not been disclosed by the police. The leopard skins, which were seized during the operation, are now being analyzed by forensic experts to determine where they came from and whether they are linked to any other wildlife crimes in the area.
As per reports, the forest officials carried out this operation after a thorough investigation and careful intelligence gathering. The operation received crucial support from the Mayurbhanj police, particularly in mobile tracking and analyzing call data records (CDR). Their help was instrumental in identifying and arresting the suspects involved in this crime.
The authorities have expressed their strong commitment to protecting wildlife and ensuring the conservation of the region’s rich biodiversity.
