Bhubaneswar, September 23: An Air Quality Digital Display was inaugurated on Wednesday at the Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar, a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM).
Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) Member Secretary Manoj V, Nair inaugurated the Air Quality Digital Display in the presence of senior scientist and members of the Regional Science Centre and dignitaries from the SPCB, as part of the celebrations marking the 43rd Foundation Day of the OSPCB and the 38th Anniversary of the Regional Science Centre.
The newly installed display provides information on important air-quality indicators, including the Air Quality Index (AQI), PM2.5 and PM10, enabling visitors to understand the prevailing status of air quality through a simple and visually accessible digital interface. Along with air-quality information, the display also presents selected weather parameters such as wind velocity and temperature.
The installation is designed to serve as an informative platform for visitors, particularly students and young learners, to develop a better understanding of air pollution, particulate matter and the relationship between environmental conditions and everyday life. By bringing real-world environmental information into a public science-learning space, the display complements the Centre's efforts towards promoting scientific temper and environmental awareness.
Speaking on the occasion, Kapil Jain, Centre Head, Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar, stated that the launch of the Air Quality Display System at Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar marks an important step towards strengthening public awareness and scientific understanding of the environment and air quality among our visitors, particularly students and young learners.
