Bhubaneswar, July 19: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Sunday started the counting, weighing, verification and documentation of ornaments kept in the Chalanti Ratna Bhandar (working treasury) of Puri Srimandir. The exercise covered jewellery regularly used for the deities, including ornaments offered during Snana Purnima.
SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee said the ornaments were being identified by experts, while the entire process was being videographed.
Inspection committee chairman Justice Biswanath Rath said the exercise was conducted as per State government-approved procedures.
Advanced technologies, including high-precision 3D scanning, were used to create a secure digital record of the ornaments.
The SJTA clarified that the inventory did not include the Bhitara Ratna Bhandar (inner treasury), whose verification will be carried out separately at a later date.
