Dhenkanal, Aug 2: Over 20 people sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned into a canal near Kantiokatani under Tumusingha police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Friday.
As per reports, a private passenger bus named ‘Jagannath’ (bearing registration no. OD05AF8877) was travelling from Parajang to Bhubaneswar with over 35 passengers onboard when it overturned into the Rengali branch canal.
Though the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that the bus veered off the road and plunged into the canal.
Upon getting the information, police along with the fire fighters arrived at the scene and launched a rescue operation.
The injured passengers were promptly taken to the Anlabereni Community Health Centre (CHC), where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
