Bhubaneswar, August 28: The traditional agrarian festival of Nuakhai was celebrated with devotion and cultural fervor at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati and First Lady Jayashree Kambhampati led the rituals by offering the season’s first harvest—newly harvested rice—to Goddess Samaleswari, seeking blessings for the prosperity of Odisha.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary Rupa Roshan Sahu, along with members of the Raj Bhavan staff. Participants joined in the rituals and shared the sacred Nabanna meal, marking the essence of togetherness.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kambhampati expressed joy in celebrating Nuakhai, describing it as a festival that reveres Mother Earth and acknowledges the hard work of farmers. He extended warm greetings to the people of Odisha, wishing them happiness, prosperity, and good health.
