Balangir, Sept 10: In a tragic incident, a minor boy allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Turekela area of Odisha’s Balangir district last night.

The deceased has been identified as Rukman Raut (17), a resident of Dhumabhata village under Belpara block in the district.

As per reports, the minor boy had visited his aunt’s home at Samarsingha village under Turekela police limits and consumed poison last evening due to some reason. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and was later shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital as his health condition deteriorated. Unfortunately, he died on the way to the hospital.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the body for post-mortem.

A probe has been initiated into the matter to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the minor boy’s death, said the police.
