Cuttack, Jul 27: The results of the Matric Supplementary Examination and the State Open School Certificate (SOSC) Examination are likely to be announced in the first week of August, according to sources in the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha.

Board officials said the digital evaluation process of both objective and subjective answer scripts has reached its final stage. Notably, this year marks the first time that subjective answer sheets are being evaluated through an on-screen digital system, replacing the traditional method of manual checking.

Under the new system, evaluators are assessing answer scripts on laptop screens, using digital tools to mark and award scores instead of making corrections with red pens on physical answer sheets. The digital valuation process is currently being conducted at centres in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Sambalpur, with nearly 400 teachers engaged in the evaluation work.

A total of 24,470 candidates had applied for the Matric Supplementary and SOSC examinations this year. The examinations were conducted across 251 centres in all 30 districts of Odisha, with thousands of students appearing to improve their academic prospects.

The Board is making efforts to publish the results at the earliest as the Plus-II admission process is already underway across the state. The admission process, which began on July 9, has already completed two phases.

A senior Board official said that once the results are declared, successful candidates will receive their digital certificates, enabling them to participate in the final phase of Plus-II admissions. The move is expected to provide another opportunity for students who clear the supplementary examinations to continue their higher secondary education without losing an academic year.

The introduction of digital evaluation is also being viewed as a significant step towards enhancing transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in the examination assessment system in Odisha.
