Bhubaneswar, July 16: The Inter-Ministerial Sub-Committee on Bhubaneswar Metro Project held its first meeting on Wednesday at the Lok Seva Bhawan conference hall here. The meeting focused on accelerating the project’s implementation and enhancing Bhubaneswar’s public transport system.
The meeting discussed the key modalities for implementation, inter- departmental coordination, strong and efficient public transport system in Bhubaneswar city, comprehensive mobility plan for traffic decongestion, rail-road transition, said a State Government communiqué.
“The next steps will be taken on the Metro project keeping in mind the interest of the people and traffic decongestion. In this regard, discussions have been held with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation CEO,” it stated.
Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Industries and Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampada Chandra Swain attended the meeting and presented their views. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Finance Secretary Saswat Mishra, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Usha Padhee, BMC Commissioner Rajesh Pravakar Patil also presented their observations.
