Bhubaneswar, September 21: With the possibility of incessant rainfall across Odisha, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling on Monday chaired a high-level virtual review meeting to assess the health department’s preparedness and ensure uninterrupted medical services across the state.
During the meeting, officials reviewed emergency medical arrangements, the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies, ambulance deployment, and contingency plans at hospitals to deal with any rain-related emergencies.
Dr Mahaling directed health authorities in all districts to remain on high alert and maintain close coordination to ensure that essential healthcare services are not disrupted. He stressed the need for immediate deployment of emergency medical assistance in areas affected by heavy rainfall and instructed officials to ensure adequate medical resources and infrastructure at local hospitals.
The Health Minister also appealed to people to remain calm and vigilant, while strictly following advisories issued by the administration.
He assured citizens that the state government was fully committed to safeguarding public health and ensuring timely medical assistance during the adverse weather conditions.
The virtual meeting was attended by Commissioner-cum-Secretary Ashwathi S., Director of Public Health Dr Rabindra Nath Mishra, Director of Health Services Mahesh Mohan Panda, Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Durga Madhab Satapathy, along with Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs), deans and principals of medical colleges across Odisha.
