Bhubaneswar, May 13: The Odisha government has prioritized ensuring drinking water availability in both urban and rural areas due to prolonged heat waves.
In all secretaries' meetings chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja on Tuesday, officials were directed to address water scarcity through urgent departmental actions and implement effective supply plans, especially in affected regions like Bhubaneswar.
The meeting also stressed timely updates to the media, filling departmental vacancies, and promoting a new NIC-developed pension disbursement system. Emphasis was laid on short-term strategies aligned with "Prosperous Odisha by 2036" and "Developed India by 2047" goals.
Plans for senior officers’ field visits, streamlined land transfers for development, and appointing data officers in departments were discussed. The role of civil defense volunteers in disaster relief was highlighted, with a focus on 12 key districts. Rath Yatra preparations in Puri were also reviewed.
