Bhubaneswar, May 27: In a major decision, the Odisha Government has approved recruitment for 7,664 vacancies in various categories of police and uniformed services. The recruitment process will now be conducted by the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC).

According to an official letter issued by the Odisha Home Department, OUSSSC has been entrusted with conducting recruitment examinations for Civil Constable, OISF Constable, Constable (Communication), and Sub-Inspector (SI) along with equivalent ranks.

Among the total vacancies, 4,219 posts are for Civil Constables, while 2,212 vacancies are for Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) Constables. The government has also approved recruitment for 933 Sub-Inspector and equivalent posts, along with 300 Constable (Communication) posts.

The letter, signed by Deputy Secretary Tarun Kumar Panda, stated that the recruitment process for SI and equivalent posts, which was earlier under the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB), has now been shifted to OUSSSC due to administrative reasons.

The government has further clarified that candidates who had previously applied for these posts and were found eligible will be allowed to participate in the upcoming recruitment process. The OPRB has also been directed to transfer all application forms and related data to OUSSSC to ensure smooth and timely recruitment.
