Bhubaneswar, June 9: Aiming a robust healthcare facility, the Odisha government on Tuesday approved as many as 755 new posts for government-run medical colleges and healthcare institutions.

The newly created posts include at least 92 faculties with other healthcare personnel.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi accorded approval for creation of the new posts to address health issues across the state and empower the helath professionals with adequate training.

The newly sanctioned positions comprise 7 Professors, 35 Associate Professors, 50 Assistant Professors, 29 Tutors, 248 Senior Residents, 190 Junior Residents (MBBS), 112 Casualty Medical Officers (CMOs), and 84 Blood Bank Officers (BBOs).

Speaking on the development, Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the State government is laying much emphasis on public health.

Mahaling also highlighted that three new medical colleges have recently expanded their MBBS seats by 250, while postgraduate (PG) seats have increased to 68.

Provision of the new posts will cater to the need of the institutions, the minister added.
