Bhubaneswar, November 17: The Patapur police station in Odisha's Ganjam district has been selected as one of the top three police stations in India for 2024 by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The recognition is part of an annual ranking aimed at enhancing the quality of policing across the country.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will present the prestigious trophy to the inspector-in-charge of the police station during the upcoming Director Generals of Police convention, scheduled to take place in Bhubaneswar from November 29 to December 1.

The rankings evaluate over 150 parameters, including crime rate, investigation efficiency, case disposal, infrastructure, and public service delivery. Citizen feedback also constitutes 20% of the total score, reflecting the focus on community policing and public satisfaction.

"We are thrilled with this recognition, which highlights the dedication and teamwork of our staff," said Suvendu Kumar Patra, SP (Ganjam).

Established 113 years ago, Patapur police station has excelled in various areas, including crime detection, prevention, and the implementation of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS). Its child-friendly infrastructure, women and child desks, and emphasis on community engagement have been pivotal in securing this accolade.

MHA officials visited the station on September 28 to assess its facilities and gather feedback from the local community. Sanjay Kumar Mohapatra, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Aska, praised the station's efforts in fostering trust and ensuring effective policing.
