Bhubaneswar, August 9: A farmer was killed, and three others sustained injuries after lightning struck an agricultural field at Nathapasi village under Palalahada police limits in Angul district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Matae Marij.

It is said that around 12 people, including men and women, were working in the field when lightning suddenly struck the area. Matae was reportedly struck directly and died on the spot.

Two other people working in the field suffered serious injuries in the incident. A minor girl, who was standing near the field with an umbrella, was also injured.

The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current condition was not immediately known, and further details are awaited.
