Jajpur, May 15: A farmer committed suicide after unable to bear the burden of debt. Such a sad incident has taken place in Madhapur village under Mangalpur police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
The deceased has been identified as Maheswar Jena (52), son of Anant Jena.
According to sources, as usual, Ananta went to the field this morning. However, he committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near his field after seeing his damaged crop field. Other farmers spotted him and informed his family about the incident. Being informed, Mangalpur police reached the spot, seized the body and started investigation into the incident.
Worth mentioning, Maheswar was completely dependent on farming for his livelihood. He had invested all his efforts into this farming. As the crops were getting ruined, the villagers are discussing that he might have committed suicide out of worry. He has two sons and two daughters.
