Cuttack, Apr 23: In a tragic incident, a farmer reportedly died of heat stroke in Niali Tehsil of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Wednesday.
The deceased farmer has been identified as Bimbadhar Das (72) and the incident has been reported from Tarabana village under Bilashuni Panchayat in Niali.
As per reports, Bimbadhar was bringing in a bundle of green gram (moong) from the farm land at around 1 pm today when he suddenly collapsed.
After learning about it, locals rushed to the field for his rescue and found that he had already passed away.
Upon getting the information, Niali police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
Though the exact cause behind his death is yet to be confirmed, his family alleged that he died of heat stroke while working in the field.
A probe has been initiated into the matter and the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received, said the police.
