Bhubaneswar, Sep 29: The Home Department has directed all Collectors and District Magistrates to take preventive and precautionary security measures to maintain law and order in view of the proposed statewide Odisha bandh on September 30.
Members of the Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) and Naba Nirman Yuva Chhatra Sangathan have called for a statewide general strike from 6 am to 6 pm on September 30.
According to the department, the bandh is expected to involve road blockades, obstruction of vehicular movement, burning of tyres and disruption of traffic over various demands.
The Home Department also noted that, according to available inputs, several Opposition parties, including the Left parties, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress, have expressed support for the bandh.
The district authorities have been asked to remain alert and take all necessary measures to prevent any untoward incidents during the strike.
The department has also directed officials to make necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth functioning of Central and state government offices across Odisha. Authorities have been asked to closely monitor the situation and ensure that essential services remain uninterrupted.
