Sundargarh, July 7: In an unfortunate incident, a farmer lost his life after the wall of his house collapsed while he was asleep in Bonai sub-division of Odisha’s Sundargarh district last night.
The deceased farmer has been identified as Devendra Bhainsa (54).
As per reports, the incident took place in Sarsara village under Tikayatpali police limits in the district when Devendra was sleeping in his house that was built in his farmland to look after his crops due to the heavy rains.
All of sudden the wall of the house collapsed, and the heavy mud fell on Devendra leading to his death on the spot.
This incident came to light this morning when local villagers noticed the collapsed house and informed his family. Later, the matter was reported to Tikayatpali police station.
Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
It is worth noting that for the past 15-20 days, the Bonai region in Sundargarh has been heavily impacted by rainfall caused by a low-pressure system, which has disrupted daily life. Many farmers have suffered crop losses, and numerous houses have also sustained damage.
