Bhubaneswar, June 19: In response to the diarrhoea outbreak in parts of Odisha, the Health and Family Welfare Department, under the direction of Secretary Ashwathy S, has deployed three joint expert teams to the affected districts of Cuttack, Jajpur, and Bhadrak.

Each team comprises specialists from both the Central and State Governments. In Jajpur, the team includes Dr. Nilakant Mishra, Director of Public Health, and Dr. N. Somalkar from the central team, along with officials from the Food Safety Authority of India.

The team in Cuttack features Dr. B. Dwivedi and Dr. S. Mohanty from the central contingent, and Dr. Pramila Baral, Additional Director of the Health and Family Welfare Department. Meanwhile, the Bhadrak team consists of Dr. P. Ghosh, Dr. G. Choudhary, and Joint Director Dr. Subhasish Mohanty.

The teams are actively engaged in monitoring and implementing measures such as purification of drinking water sources, public awareness campaigns on the importance of boiling water, ensuring proper treatment of patients, and collecting accurate health data. Their findings will guide local teams and healthcare providers.

Following their field assessments, the expert teams will consult with the core committees in each district to determine further steps for controlling and preventing the spread of the disease.
