​​​​​​​Sundargarh, Sept 24: In a gruesome incident, a drunken man allegedly killed his friend following an argument over alcohol in Bandubahal under Dharuadihi police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil Sunani, a resident of Bandubahal village.

As per reports, Sunil had gone to a nearby market on Monday with his friend Gagan Sahu from Tileimalti village. While returning, both of them, reportedly intoxicated, got into a heated argument.

It later took a violent turn when Gagan, in a fit of rage, repeatedly punched Sunil in the mouth. He sustained grave injuries and collapsed on the spot. After the incident, Gagan fled to his village.

When Sunil did not return home, his wife Sunasini Sunani filed a complaint with the Dharuadihi police around 2 AM. Acting on it, police arrived at the scene and rushed Sunil to a nearby hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.

The cops then seized the body and sent it for post-mortem on Tuesday morning.

The accused was later arrested from Tileimalti village and produced before the court. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
