Bhubaneswar, September 4: Janmashtami fever has gripped Odisha as devotees across the state celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna with religious fervour and enthusiasm.

Temples across the state have been beautifully decorated with flowers, colourful lights and traditional ornaments. Special rituals, prayers, bhajans and devotional programmes are being organised to mark the auspicious occasion.

In Puri, the Shree Jagannath Temple is witnessing special religious observances on the occasion of Janmashtami. Devotees have gathered to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath, with the temple premises witnessing a heightened devotional atmosphere. Special rituals and offerings associated with the festival are being observed as part of the celebrations.

In Bhubaneswar, people are thronging prominent Krishna temples, including ISKCON Temple and Ram Mandir, to have darshan of the Lord and take part in the Janmashtami celebrations. The temples are witnessing a steady flow of devotees, with the festive atmosphere marked by devotional songs, prayers and special decorations.

Devotees are also observing fasts and preparing for midnight prayers, when Lord Krishna’s birth is traditionally celebrated. Several temples have arranged tableaux depicting different episodes from Krishna’s life.

The festive spirit is particularly visible among children, with parents dressing their little ones as Lord Krishna and Radha. Markets across the state are witnessing a rush for flowers, fruits, puja items and Krishna-themed decorations.

As devotees eagerly await the midnight celebrations, the atmosphere across Odisha is filled with devotional songs, chants and the spirit of Janmashtami.
