Sambalpur, Sept 6: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will attend a state-level Nuakhai Bhetghat programme scheduled to be held in Sambalpur today.

As per reports, CM Majhi will be accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, and BJP state president Manmohan Samal.

The event is being organized under the leadership of former minister and Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra and will be held at the parking area of the Maa Samaleswari temple.

Upon his arrival in Sambalpur, Chief Minister Majhi will offer prayers at both the Maa Samaleswari and Maa Patneswari temples.

It is worth noting that ‘Nuakhai Bhetghat’ refers to a traditional ceremonial meeting or gathering during the Nuakhai festival, which is celebrated primarily in Western Odisha.

It’s an important ritual where newly harvested crops are offered to the deities, and people come together to exchange greetings, gifts, and strengthen social bonds.

The “Bhetghat” part signifies a respectful meeting or exchange, often involving elders, relatives, and community members.
