Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: Odisha intensified its global investment outreach on Wednesday as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a series of high-level meetings with leading UAE corporations, investment institutions and business groups, seeking partnerships across key industrial sectors.
Leading a state delegation, Majhi highlighted Odisha’s expanding industrial ecosystem, infrastructure and emerging investment opportunities as the state looks to attract greater foreign investment from the Gulf region.
One of the key engagements was a roundtable with representatives of the International Holding Company (IHC), a major UAE-based business conglomerate. Discussions focused on investment opportunities in Odisha and possibilities for long-term industrial collaboration across IHC’s business verticals.
The Chief Minister also interacted with members of the Indian Business and Professional Group (IBPG) in Abu Dhabi and discussed ways to strengthen commercial ties between businesses in India and the UAE.
Petrochemicals in Focus
A major meeting was held with Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Borouge, with discussions centred on potential collaboration in the petrochemicals sector and investment opportunities in Odisha.
The state delegation also met senior representatives of leading UAE investment institutions, showcasing Odisha’s industrial capabilities, infrastructure development and sector-specific investment opportunities.
Odisha Products Showcased in Dubai
As part of the outreach, the Odisha delegation inaugurated a One District One Product (ODOP) showcase in Dubai, putting the spotlight on traditional handicrafts, artisan products and locally manufactured goods from the state.
The initiative is aimed at increasing the global visibility of Odisha’s indigenous products and creating new export opportunities for local artisans and entrepreneurs.
Focus on Stronger India-UAE Ties
The day’s engagements also included a meeting with the Consul General of India in Dubai. Discussions focused on strengthening institutional cooperation, business partnerships and community-level engagement between Odisha and the UAE.
The UAE visit is part of Odisha’s broader strategy to attract global investments, expand international trade and establish the state as a competitive destination for industries across diverse sectors.
