Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 155th birth anniversary on Wednesday.
He remembered Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution in freedom fighting and nation building.
He took part in an event organised on the occasion. Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, State Legislative Assembly speaker Surama Padhy, and state ministers also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary at the premises of the Odisha Legislative Assembly in Bhubaneswar.
On this occasion, Majhi lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for significant steps towards promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability with the launch of Swachhata Swachhta Abhiyan.
Swachhta Abhiyan is a nationwide campaign in India to promote hygiene and cleanliness, and eliminate open defecation. The campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014.
