Bhubaneswar, August 11: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday expressed profound grief over the deaths of Rebati Raul and her daughter Rasmita from Patrapada, Bhubaneswar, in a tragic hit-and-run case.

Extending his condolences to the bereaved family, Majhi announced an ex-gratia of ₹4 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the next of kin.

The fatal incident occurred on Saturday in Patrapada, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, when a speeding white Thar SUV—allegedly racing with a black Scorpio—lost control and struck Rebati, her daughter Rasmita, and her son. Rasmita died on the spot, while Rebati and her son were rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

Rebati succumbed to her injuries on Sunday while undergoing treatment, leaving the family shattered and the locality in shock.
