Bhubaneswar, September 9: Senior IAS officer Dr. Brundha D on Wednesday assumed charge as the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) and emphasised the need to leverage technology, data-driven monitoring mechanisms and effective field-level coordination to strengthen implementation, monitoring and delivery of departmental programmes and social security initiatives.
Department Special Secretary Rajani Jani, Financial Advisor-cum-Special Secretary Jayashree Tripathi, Additional Secretaries Deepak Routray, Sonia Behera and Bhaskar Raito and other senior officers and employees of the department welcomed the top bureaucrat.
Upon assuming charge, she sought cooperation and collective support of all officers and employees to further advance the Government’s commitment towards social security, dignity, inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
She also interacted with senior departmental officers and received a detailed briefing on the functioning and mandate of the department, major welfare initiatives, ongoing programmes, organisational matters, and key areas of intervention concerning persons with disabilities, senior citizens, transgender persons and other vulnerable sections of society.
She emphasised the need for greater organisational coordination at all levels and strengthening streamlined administrative processes to ensure the efficient, transparent and time-bound implementation of welfare schemes and programmes.
Highlighting the importance close coordination among officers at various levels, she instructed the officials to ensure that the benefits of social security schemes reach the intended beneficiaries in an effective and time-bound manner.
