Bhubaneswar, June 26: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy on Friday formed department-related standing committees in the House giving representation to the legislators from both the ruling BJP and opposition BJD and Congress.
Opposition Chief Whip and BJD MLA Pramila Mallik has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Odisha Legislative Assembly for the financial year 2026-27.
The 12-member PAC was constituted under Rule 135(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
Members of the Public Accounts Committee are Rama Chandra Kadam, Dr Aruna Kumar Sahu, Ganeswar Behera, Sanatan Bijuli, Akash Dasnayak, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Ashok Mohanty, Babu Singh, Santosh Khatua, Amar Kumar Nayak and Arabinda Mohapatra.
The PAC is considered one of the most important financial oversight bodies of the State legislature. It examines reports submitted by the Comptroller and Auditor General and scrutinises Government spending.
While BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra will chair the standing committee on Privileges, Prasanta Kumar Jagdev has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Committee on Petitions.
Irasis Acharya will head the standing committee on Sub-Ordinate Legislation, the Library Committee will be headed by Akash Dasnayak.
