Bhubaneswar, Apr 13: Around 200 platoons of security forces will be deployed across the state along with elaborate security arrangements in place for smooth celebrations of major festivals including Hanuman Jayanti scheduled for tomorrow, informed Odisha ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar.
Kumar said that Hanuman Jayanti, Ambedkar Jayanti, and Maha Vishuba Sankranti will all be observed on the same day. Large processions and rallies are expected during these events. Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated with traditional processions, while Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti will also see rallies and public gatherings. Maha Vishuba Sankranti, considered a highly sacred occasion in Odisha, adds to the significance of the day.
In preparation, a high-level meeting was held earlier today, which was attended by the DGP, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Director of Intelligence, all district collectors, and senior police officials.
Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Rourkela, Kendrapara, and Cuttack have been identified as focus areas due to expected large gatherings, said Kumar.
To maintain law and order situation, the central government has provided 10 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), including 3 companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), at the request of the state government. Around 200 platoons of state police will also be deployed across key locations, added Kumar.
Senior officers have been assigned to sensitive areas, and flag marches have already been conducted. About 650 CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor public places and ensure safety, Kumar said.
