Bhubaneswar, November 5: In a major push to accelerate industrial development and attract fresh investments, Odisha has approved 63 project proposals, comprising 55 land allotment proposals and eight proposals related to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The approvals were granted at a meeting of the Land Allotment Committee, chaired by Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department and Chairperson of the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO).
The decisions are expected to facilitate the establishment and expansion of industrial units and enterprises across the State, strengthen industrial infrastructure, attract investment and generate new employment opportunities.
Under the leadership of Usha Padhee, IDCO has introduced several measures to streamline the land allotment process, enhance inter-departmental coordination and ensure faster decisions on investment proposals. As part of these initiatives, meetings of the Land Allotment Committee are now being conducted every month to ensure regular and timely consideration of applications.
In addition, IDCO has introduced a dedicated weekly mechanism to hear and address grievances raised by investors and entrepreneurs. The initiative aims to ensure prompt resolution of issues and make the land allotment system more responsive and investor-friendly.
These administrative reforms are designed to minimise procedural delays, enhance transparency and improve the ease of doing business in Odisha, enabling investors to translate their proposals into operational projects more efficiently.
The approval of eight MSME-related proposals also highlights the State Government's focus on promoting small and medium enterprises as important contributors to economic growth, innovation and employment generation. Facilitating access to industrial land and supporting infrastructure is expected to provide enterprises of different scales with greater opportunities to establish, expand and strengthen their operations.
The Land Allotment Committee plays a crucial role in Odisha's industrial development by examining and approving land-related proposals, thereby facilitating the implementation of investment projects. The introduction of regular monthly committee meetings and weekly investor grievance hearings reflects IDCO's continued efforts to ensure transparent, efficient and investor-oriented industrial governance in the State.
