
Angul, Sept 26: In yet another instance of man-animal conflict, a 55-year-old man was killed in an elephant attack while he was collecting mushrooms in a forest near his village in Odisha’s Angul district early this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Subash Chandra Pradhan, a resident of Badasahi under Chhendipada block.
As per reports, Pradhan had ventured about two kilometers into the forest near his village to collect mushrooms when an elephant attacked him. He sustained critical injuries and was quickly rushed to Chhendipada Hospital. However, his condition worsened following which he was shifted to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where he was declared dead.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, officials from the forest department arrived at the scene and began investigating the incident.
