Bhubaneswar, August 15: In a major relief for government job aspirants, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Independence Day announced key changes in the state’s recruitment policy.

The upper age limit for government jobs has been increased from 32 to 42 years, giving aspirants additional opportunities to compete for government posts.

The Chief Minister also announced the removal of the six-attempt limit for the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) examination. Candidates will now be eligible to appear for the OCS exam until they reach the prescribed upper age limit.

“Government jobs are limited and competition for every post is very high. Therefore, to provide more opportunities to applicants, the upper age limit has been increased from 32 to 42 years,” Majhi said.

He further announced that the existing limit of six attempts for the OCS examination would be scrapped.

The Chief Minister also warned of strict action against irregularities in recruitment examinations. Such irregularities will be treated as an “unpardonable offence,” he said, making it clear that no one—from a peon to an IAS officer—would be spared if found involved.

The announcements were made during the Independence Day celebrations at Gandhi Marg.
