Bhadrak, Sept 12: The Bhadrak district administration has prohibited the use of DJ systems, DJ boxes, high-power sound systems and other high-volume sound-amplifying equipment during Ganesh Puja processions in the Bhadrak subdivision.

The decision has been taken with the aim of ensuring that Ganesh Puja and immersion processions are conducted peacefully and in a disciplined manner while keeping noise pollution under control.

Bhadrak Sub-Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sourav Chakraborty has directed the officers-in-charge of all police stations under the Bhadrak subdivision to strictly enforce the order.

Under the directive, no DJ or high-power sound system will be permitted during Ganesh Puja processions, irrespective of the size, duration or route of the procession.

Standard loudspeakers or public address (PA) systems may be used only in accordance with the law. Organisers will have to strictly follow the existing loudspeaker rules and prescribed noise pollution norms.

Special attention will be given to noise levels in residential areas, near hospitals and educational institutions. The use of loudspeakers, amplifiers or other audio equipment without the required permission or valid licence will not be permitted.

The administration has also directed that no sound-producing equipment should be operated during the prescribed night-time restriction period.

The IICs of all police stations have been asked to coordinate with executive magistrates, tehsildars and local Ganesh Puja committees and inform organisers about the restrictions in advance.

Authorities have warned that any violation will invite immediate legal action. Unauthorised sound equipment may also be seized or confiscated as per the applicable law.

The administration has made it clear that tradition, festive enthusiasm or public demand will not be considered valid grounds for violating the DJ ban or the prescribed noise limits.

The move is aimed at ensuring that Ganesh Puja celebrations and processions remain peaceful, orderly and respectful of public health and safety.
