Patna, April 14: Nitish Kumar resigned as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Tuesday, following a formal meeting with the Governor at Lok Bhavan in Patna. Earlier in the day, Kumar had recommended the dissolution of his cabinet before his resignation, as required by constitutional procedures.
Kumar, now a member of the Rajya Sabha, chaired his final cabinet meeting, informing his ministers about the decision to dissolve the council of ministers. This move was part of the formal process before submitting his resignation to the Governor.
In a brief six-minute address, Kumar reflected on his tenure, highlighting key schemes and achievements during his leadership. "I assumed office in 2005 and did my utmost for the state. The new government will continue to benefit from my guidance," he said.
Kumar submitted his resignation to the Bihar Governor around 3:15 pm, making way for the BJP's Samrat Choudhary, who is expected to take over as the next Chief Minister. His successor is likely to be sworn in tomorrow.
