Bhubaneswar, May 18: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is going to have a new office in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The Odisha Home Department on Sunday made the resolve and issued notification in this connection.
As per sources, the NIA branch will initially function at VSS Nagar in Bhubaneswar. An SP-Rank officer will head the office.
Worth mentioning, the NIA has as many as 15 branch offices so far including in Delhi, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, Raipur, Jammu, Chandigarh, Ranchi, Chennai, Imphal, Bengaluru and Patna.
Worth mentioning, the NIA Bhubaneswar branch was a brainchild of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He had once announced that almost all the states should have an NIA office, for earlier detection of cases involving national security and PMLA like crimes.
