Bhubaneswar, August 15: Yet in a case of 'hand in glove' of police with antisocials, Astarang Police IIC has been suspended on Friday for his nexus with cannabis peddlers.
The tinted Police Officer has been identified as Rajesh Baliarsingh, now working as IIC, Astarang PS in the Puri district.
The DGP has put him under suspension today, after his nexus was recently revealed during investigation of a ganja smuggling case, registered by the Jeypore (Koraput) Police.
According to sources, Baliarsingh had reportedly shown illegal favour to ganja mafias while he was serving as SI of police in the Jeypore PS earlier.
Based on an investigation, the Jeypore police had picked him from Puri yesterday and detained in the Capital Police station, Bhubaneswar for interrogation. However, he reportedly escaped from the P.S jumping off the wall.
Following this, a raid was conducted at his Bhubaneswar residence and his suspension order was issued, citing connivance with antisocial and gross negligence in duty.
