Bhubaneswar, May 15: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged Block Development Officers (BDOs) to treat people with respect and humility, not as objects of pity.
Speaking at a state-level conference of CDOs and BDOs at Lok Seva Bhawan, he emphasized that these officials are the vital link between the government and the people.
Majhi stressed that welfare schemes are citizens’ rights, not charity, and warned of strict action against corruption and negligence. He reaffirmed his directive to ban machines in MGNREGS work, aiming to provide at least 100 days of human employment annually to curb migration.
Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja echoed Majhi’s call for village-focused development.
The two-day event saw participation from CDOs of all 30 districts and BDOs from 314 blocks.
