Bhubaneswar, May 10: Former Odisha Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has extended a warm welcome to the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, expressing appreciation for the Indian Armed Forces’ decisive action against terrorism.
In a statement posted on ‘X’, Patnaik said, “I welcome the ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan and commend India’s firm stand against terrorism. The Indian Armed Forces deserve high praise for successfully dismantling terrorist bases and infrastructure. My congratulations to them.”
The ceasefire, which took effect at 5 PM, concludes four days of escalating cross-border hostilities that had sparked global alarm. According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, the ceasefire was finalized following discussions initiated by Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO). The DGMOs of both nations agreed to halt all military operations across land, air, and sea.
