Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: A grand unity march was organised by the Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).

Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj flagged off the march.

A large number of youths, sportspersons and prominent citizens participated in the event, pledging to protect the country's unity, integrity and sovereignty.

On the occasion, participants remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's significant contribution to the integration of the princely states after Independence.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted the important role of young people in safeguarding the country's democratic values and contributing to national progress.

He emphasised that youth participation is crucial in strengthening national unity and preserving the country's integrity.
