Subarnapur, Nov 3: The 44th Dhanadatri Maa Gajalaxmi Puja is being celebrated with great enthusiasm at Rampur in Subarnapur district. Beautiful decorations and colourful lighting have transformed the area, while traditional rituals and Vedic chants have added to the festive atmosphere.

Alongside the daily worship of Goddess Gajalaxmi, the cultural programme at the famous Mur Asura Darbar has emerged as a major attraction. Thousands of people gather every evening to witness the performances, with the powerful dialogues of Mur Asura adding to the excitement.

Visitors are also enjoying the fair, including various rides at the Meena Bazaar and a wide range of food stalls. The celebrations offer a blend of religious devotion, entertainment and community participation.

According to Hindu mythology, Murasura was a powerful demon born to sage Kashyapa and Danu. He received special boons from Lord Brahma after performing severe penance and became a threat to the gods. He later attacked heaven and defeated the gods. According to mythology, Lord Krishna eventually killed him using his Sudarshan Chakra.

Meanwhile, Sananda Meher, district nominee of the Balangir MP, attended the Mur Asura Darbar as the chief guest following an invitation from the Maharaja.

The Maharaja also appealed to the guests and dignitaries to extend their support to make the celebrations grander in the coming years. He expressed his vision of establishing a permanent temple dedicated to Goddess Gajalaxmi at Rampur.
