Hyderabad, October, 3: Cricketer-turned-politician Mohammad Azharuddin has sought more time to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).
Mohammad Azharuddin has been summoned to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday.
However, Azharuddin took more time to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED)
Azharuddin, who served as the president of the HCA, is accused of misappropriating funds amounting to ₹20 crore during his tenure.
The funds were intended for the procurement of diesel generators, firefighting systems, and canopies for the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Despite being summoned to appear before the ED on Thursday, Azharuddin has sought more time to respond.
The investigation stems from three FIRs registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad, which led to searches at multiple locations in Telangana in November 2023.
These searches resulted in the seizure of digital devices, incriminating documents, and unaccounted cash
