Bhubaneswar, July 06: The Indian National Congress on Sunday announced appointment of Meenakshi Bahinipati as the new President of the Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress, the women’s wing of the state Congress unit.
In an official press release, AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal announced that the Congress President has approved her appointment with immediate effect.
“The Hon’ble Congress President has approved the proposal for the appointment of Smt. Meenakshi Bahinipati as President of the Mahila Congress, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee,” the statement said.
Bahinipati’s appointment comes as part of the party’s ongoing organisational revamp in Odisha aimed at strengthening its presence and outreach at the grassroots level.
This is the second time that Bahinipati has been posted as the Odisha Mahila Congress president. Prior to this, she was also party’s Koraput district president for 10 years.
