Mayurbhanj declares strict ‘No-Drone Zones’ ahead of President Murmu & PM Modi’s visit

Baripada, June 11: In view of the upcoming high-profile visits of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Mayurbhanj district administration in Odisha has declared all event venues as strict “no-drone and no-flying zones” to ensure top-level security.

The district collector has issued an official directive to the Superintendent of Police, instructing that clear signage be installed at all designated sites prohibiting the use of drones. The order applies to everyone, including media personnel and the general public, with no exemptions permitted.

This will mark a rare and historic occasion, as both the President and the Prime Minister are scheduled to participate in events together in Odisha for the first time. President Murmu, who hails from Rairangpur, is set to visit her home region on June 19, 2026, followed by Prime Minister Modi on June 20.

During the visit, the two leaders are expected to attend celebrations marking the second anniversary of the state’s BJP government and jointly lay the foundation stones for several key development projects.

Security arrangements have been intensified across the district, which is witnessing heightened activity ahead of the visits. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed officials to ensure proper crowd management, parking arrangements, and smooth conduct of the programmes.

The Director General of Police has also instructed strict enforcement of the no-fly restrictions, warning that any violation of the VVIP security protocol will invite legal action.
