Keonjhar Miners and Kataka Panthers secure commanding T20 victories
Keonjhar Miners and Kataka Panthers registered decisive victories during the latest Bharat Masala Odisha T20 League CM Trophy fixtures. Captain Subhranshu Senapati and Swagat Mishra powered Keonjhar to beat Rourkela Superstars by 47 runs, while Kataka outplayed Puri Titans by nine wickets in a rain-curtailed match. Barabati Stadium in Kataka continues to serve as the historic epicenter for domestic cricket development across Odisha, hosting these high-stakes clashes.
Keonjhar Miners post dominant total
Batting first, Keonjhar set a formidable target of 202/7 in 20 overs. Swagat Mishra smashed 79 runs off 49 balls, and skipper Senapati contributed a quick 65 from 40 deliveries. Sujal Singh added late momentum, scoring 26 runs in just 13 balls.
Chasing 203, Rourkela Superstars stumbled early, losing four batsmen for just 30 runs. Abhishek Yadav tried to rescue the innings with a fast-paced 71 off 30 deliveries. His resistance ended when Senapati executed a sharp fielding effort in the 15th over. Rourkela finished at 155/9 in 19.1 overs, with Sambit Baral retiring hurt.
Debabrata Pradhan led the Keonjhar bowling attack, taking four wickets for 17 runs in his four overs. Vimal Kumar and Vageesh Sharma claimed two wickets each to restrict the Rourkela chase. Player of the Match Swagat Mishra expressed satisfaction with his knock. He stated his contribution helped secure a strong total and praised his teammates for stepping up when needed. Director of Bharat Masala, Srimanta Panda, presented the award to Mishra, while Vivek Khurana from Rourkela Superstars handed the Moment of the Match honor to Subhranshu Senapati.
Panthers outclass Titans in shortened game
Rain reduced the second match to a 10-over contest. Puri Titans managed only 54/7, struggling to build partnerships from the start. Prashant Rana dismantled the Puri batting lineup, bagging three wickets for 11 runs in two overs. Sahil Prasad provided solid support, taking two wickets for 11 runs.
Kataka Panthers chased the 55-run target with ease. Despite losing opener MG Gopal early, Kartik Biswal guided his team home without further trouble. Biswal scored an unbeaten 39 from 19 balls to wrap up the nine-wicket win.
Prashant Rana earned Player of the Match honors for his lethal bowling. He explained his strategy was to bowl with discipline and hit the right areas to pressure the opposition. Ashutosh Panda, Director of Bharat Masala, awarded Rana his trophy. Alvin Rodrigues, Head of Operations for the Odisha T20 League, gave Sahil Prasad his Moment of the Match award.
